Great news, hopefully means that the rumoured new short-haul routes from GLA are a goer!

B738 Line number 1672 (to be G-CDEG) made its first flight on 8 March, routing Renton-Grant County-Boeing Field as 'BOE941'. It was in bare metal with '1672' under the cockpit windows.

DC-10

Has the DC-10 now been bought by Flyglobespan? I've noticed it on their fleet listing update on Friday 18/3/05.

A B737-800 in Globespan livery arrived at Southend Airport yesterday direct from the Boeing factory (not sure of the route it took) for its CAA inspection before commencing a flying programme this weekend.

Wonder if they are starting a replacement route? I have heard that Madrid wasn't very popular and the Chairman was quoted that a new route from EDI would be announced shortly. What do you think?

I have heard the EDI route will be replaced by another route, and a few more routes will be added to the GLA base in May. Not sure about the routes though.

Hi all

G-CDEG left Boeing Field at 1335 local on 21/3/05 flying using rego as callsign. It stopped at Gander for fuel then continued to Southend.

I posted a pic somewhere on these forums but can't find it now so here's another G-CDEG.

Cheers.

The Globespan company wants to launch a longhaul operation from Scottish airports to serve popular leisure-based routes possibly with second-hand 777s or ordering the 787. The airline would be a totally seperate company from flyglobespan, although would operate on the same basis as a mix of seat-only & providing capacity for Globespan's holiday companies. The DC-10 is NOT going ahead (DC-10s & Globespan don't go together ... wasnt that the problem with Excalibur?!) but the longhaul operation is being pondered.

flyglobespan is the scottish short & medium haul operation with 738s. Any news on the 736s or why they were ordered? The 736 hasn't sold well internationally, and for its size is meant to be heavy. Will these also have winglets?
