Question Flights - LPA to Tenerife (TFN or S)

Last May(yes really!) I booked flights for Mrs NW and I to visit Gran Canaria, and Tenerife this Easter. I have just been advised that our flight between LPA and TFS, which was scheduled for 4/4, has been cancelled due to the airline (Binter Canarias or Air Europa?) stopping all flights between the two islands from 28/3.

Can anyone confirm this and, if true, suggest an alternative way for making this journey, Mrs NW not being a "good" sailor!

Many thanks.

If they infact cancelled all the flights I can think of two options. Islas Airlines operate quite a few daily flights between LPA and TFN. Option two is Fred Olsen's catamaran ferryboat, takes about an hour or so.

Thanks Brenoch. Do you have a "contact" for Islas Airways, since their Internet site appears to be "under construction", if that is what the spanish says.

Thanks, I will try that number when I get home - international calls barred at work!

The Islas Airways site is still viewable through http://www.islas-airways.com/ (with a dash) but their is no English version as far as I can see.

Incidentally, Binter Canarias aren't ceasing services from TFS to LPA, see their timetable here.

Thanks guys for all the information. On checking, my tickets were with Air Europa, who are ceasing all flights between these islands from 28th March. Anyone know why?

Binter Canarias is a different company who, as johnwalton confirms, are still flying this route. However, they will not take the Air Europa tickets.

Islas Airways, now found with the miracle of the hyphen (thanks again jw) appear to have links with Air Europa, but I can't get through to their call centre number, always engaged!

Trasmediterranea (fast ferry) appear to be about the same price as a flight. Fred Olsen's site playing up at present.

4 weeks to sort it.

There are plenty of daily BINTER flights between TFN and LPA, and twice a day from TFS also (not every day). The ferry option is not bad, so you can take your car with you (if you intend to rent a car). TFN is about 70 km. from TFS (45 min. drive).

The Air Europa flight was probably just a stop to go to mainland Spain (low season).

Surprise! Surprise! The flight has been reinstated, with no explanation given.

Thanks for all the suggestions and advice.

Interesting that no-one wanted to take responsibility for helping me sort it. EXPEDIA said that I should contact BA. BA said that they were only responsible for the flights to and from LGW, and that I should contact Air Europa. AE referred me back to BA, as the tickets had been purchased as a complete itinerary..........

So it's out to LPA 25/3, back from TFS 9/4 with GB Airways.

I will be wearing my PPRuNe lapel badge.
