The only person so far to mention Disabled pax is LTNman.
Just how are they supposed to cope with this extra journey on foot from the short term car park?? The last time I was at LTN just before Christmas, having been dropped off by Mrs. TD, and I was limping along with my leg in plaster up to the knee, and on departure, at security, the snake lines were in "Maximum Distance" mode. I lifted the velvet rope to go direct to the scanner (NOT, of course trying to get around it even if I could) and was roundly abused by a security staff member. This was at a time of day when the area was quiet so I wasn't even trying to jump the queue. He then VERY grudgingly allowed me to go through, but then had a chat with his mates on the scanner, and guess what ... Right - I was rummaged. Vindictive wossname.
I would have thought, that if the airport can't handle the number of Pax, there is one way of limiting it...it's called slots, and have a cap on them until more provision is made to expand. Can't just keep piling it on till something breaks. I suppose you could extend the runway and put bigger aircraft in, but her Majesty's Judiciary scuppered that idea in the middle of the week.
Security may be a bit improved if Exec aircraft weren't parked at LTN with their tails over the fence as well.

Grrr

On the basis that Buster is keeping this car park thread open, then will the administrators please move it now to the NCP forum, so we can make room for airport gossip? (Sorry tart1).

By the way LTNman, your posts are becoming renowned for your whole hearted and unambiguous negative content. However, they are the highlight of my day! You must be a member of the LADACAN group, as they dispise Luton for all kinds of reasons as well, no doubt your car park bashing is one of their many anti- Luton angles!

Over 9 million pax by this years end, or will the planned extra growth be put off flying due to car parking?

Of course they will. LTNman you win, Mr 'O' Leary and Buster have got it totally wrong. I can see it now, wholesale reversing by cars heading out of Bedforshire due to the methods employed by ACDL!

I will now shut up!

No I will not, it is totally out of order how an airport the size of Luton can actually get way in law, without proper bear scratching posts!

Strange, every time I think that this thread has come to an end up pops Buster to keep it going.

Rubbish, LTNman's last post
Last February the total was 507,228. A 29% increase would take the total to 654,324, not bad for a 28-day month.
Recent thread started by LTNman.

LTN takes 5th spot. Luton has overtaken Edinburgh, Glasgow and Birmingham to become the UK’s 5th busiest airport in terms of passenger numbers for December with an increase of 26.4%
Some little bear is determined to keep this thread alive. I thought bears hibernated in the winter. Suggestion, go and lie down and have a long sleep!

I see LADACAN have got a public meeting on Thursday at Breachwood Green Village Hall. I have never yet been in a position to attend one of these meetings as I have always been away and this Thursday is no exception. I would just love to ask the question how many of the LADACAN members would own up to flying out of LTN and why if they don’t like aircraft noise did they buy a property close to an airport that has been there for nearly 60 years. http://www.ladacan.org/ Can I suggest that pro airport supporters attend this meeting.

LTNman,

Re you last comment - it is of course more appropriate to another topic current running on the site "High Court Ruling on Luton & Stansted expansion" - and nothing to do with car parking.

However, whilst on the topic here, suffice to say that LADACAN's main spokeman admits to personally using LTN all the time for business and pleasure (and I have a BBC 3 Counties Radio recording of him saying it...)!!!

And of course what these people always forget (or don't know perhaps?) is that nearly every aspect of modern life is supported by the aviation industry in some way or another.

In the most basic terms if you buy:-

Clothes, fresh fruit and veg, electrical goods, car spares, newspapers - in fact virtually any consumer retail item, you are contributing to the demand that Airports generally are meeting. These things are not magically sent to shops using particle transfer beams, they certainly come through airport cargo sheds at one time or another, and I suspect through LTN's.

Not to mention going on holiday by air or travelling on business of course...

I recall reading letter in a local rag last year from some misguided soul in Hitchin or Baldock who was trying to encourage local people only to fly once a year on holiday, when if they objected so violently to airports and aviation they should have been trying to get people not to fly at all...

Self interest and hypocracy is an ugly thing y'know...

Incidentally LTN has been at the top of that particular hill since 1938 - so it's 67 years old and counting.

Kisses to all,

Eddie 'Ranting' Ginley XX

Yawn, LTNman posts info from other sources (Pax figures).

Folk surfing these pages want info on airports, not car parks?

LTNman please do not take my humour personally for today I was told:

Skylink have signed a handling contract at Luton prior to thier low cost trans Atlantic air-bridge?
AN26 to be based?
easyJet to fly from Berlin (Dropping Bratislava) to Maastricht and considering linking Luton to Maastricht as well?

These rumours correct or otherwise, are far more important than car parking/drop off?

Come on bear and move on, I haven’t touched on the subject of car parks or drop off zones since Feb 16th, the subject is clearly exhausted but you have mentioned it a further three times since then. It wasn’t you that planned the fiasco was it?

This is the bear that claimed for around a year that BMI Baby were coming to Luton. Since then I have learnt to take Bear rumours with a pinch of salt.

Do a PPRUNE search little bear. Think you will find it was me that announced on PPRUNE that Ryanair were about to make a big announcement about LTN expansion which was the big story of 2004.
