Excellent. I hope other carriers - across the world - will follow suit. I'm sure there will be plans afoot elsewhere in the world of aviation and beyond. Typically most 'office staff' are on holiday at this time of year so hopefully there will be a huge boost to this cause next week when everyone's back at work...

Would be good to see those companies with HUGE profits - banks, Oil companies etc. making donations on the relative scale of the UK Premiership Football teams....

Here's hoping....

Hi,

I will make sure to make a donation next Wednesday if the Cabin Crew collect on our flight. I personally think that the Beckham's should donate some of there many riches instead of remaining in Spain all smug with nothing to spend it on!

Regards

Overload?

I have heard from a number of people that they are feeling "overload" from collections for this worthy cause. I appreciate this might sound callous and it is not the intention, but some are finding it hard, perhaps economically, to give to so many outlets who are making the collections.

I.e. one at the workplace, one at their church, one at their club or group, one on board the airplane, one at the rail station and ones at shopping centres etc. I have seen the well-meaning collectors at my local shopping centre and they can be a little too enthusiastic and in your face.

I've seen it myself and tried a polite no thank you, already donated (they don't need to know the value and I'm not going to willy wave in the forum either) but one should get the impression from some of the collectors that you might be bs-ing them as well and that is quite hurtful.

How does one get a happy level ?

FCA have also collected on board since beginning of Jan for Tsunami victims, think they were doing it for 2 weeks taking both foreign money and sterling, i believe after that they were going back to their usual local charites.
I say well done to EZY & FCA and any others collecting, i'm pretty sure there won't be any pressure involved, as far as i'm aware FCA just do 1 PA on board and pax hand it over in droves.

Also to add to the above FCA Carried 22 tonnes of drinking water to the maldives on Dec 27 and helped out Oxfam by carrying 6 tonnes of water purification equipment out for them.
First Choice Holidays are doing a lot to help, they made a coperate donation of £25\'000 and their businesses both uk and european have been collecting and matching employee donations and their Adventure company is supporting a re-building project in Sri Lanka, All in all i would say everyone at First Choice deserves a BIG WELL DONE.

bmi support Save the Children with envelopes in seatbacks anyway, so were effectively "collecting for the Tsunami" before it happened! All that is needed is some generous passengers ....

On the other hand, there are plenty of ways in which you can give money so that people don't see your good deeds in public, resulting in you getting all your "reward" for your generosity now ...
