Air Scotland Flown Relief Flight to Phuket ?
Hi
According to Air Scotland today they have delayed their Malaga flight for tomorrow by 4 hours as they had to fly a relief flight to Phuket and the aircraft got delayed by 4 hours before departing Phuket.
Anyone got any information on the subject?

Surely a commercial decision by the airline and the Swedish government paid whatever the rate would have been?
If Air Scotland gave their services for free, that would be something of note?

What is your point exactly? I'm sure they were paid, and no doubt handsomely too. But the fact of the matter is the aircraft WAS on a relief flight, the delay was not caused by a tech aircraft. The delay was caused by spending 4-5hrs in HKT loading people off of ambulances etc. Many of whom will never walk again, very few had recieved first aid at all. Many had broken limbs, families who had lost their children and children who had lost their parents and were travelling alone! So yeah, "mate" the letter was 100% FACT, I know what it says I read it. I'm sorry that the flight was delayed a few hours, but there was something a bit more important going on on the other side of the world. All pax were given refreshments, and a free drink on board, some were given a hotel room too.
I am shaking with rage writing this. Your comments are sickening. All of the crew on those flights, and everyone connected with the airline will never forget what they saw and had to deal with over those 2 days. I know some of our crew read this site, indeed some were on the flight, and I can only imagine the feelings they will have reading this!

I made my point above then, "enough said".
The letter from AS was "creative" to say the least.
AS flight and cabin crew, job well done.
AS management, learn how to communicate delays with passengers in a "professional" manner.

Did I say anything sickening, indeed I did not, simply pointing out a first hand experience and after showing the AS letter now to about a dozen Frequent Flyers they all say the same. Too much incorrect information for the public, never seen this before from any other airline, now that is …………...
What was it last time “ferrying the British army around”.
Chill out AS folks and think of the message your management send out to customers…a free drink for a mercy flight…just be real and tell us the truth…that is all, simple.
As I have said the said airline did not do this out of the goodness of their hearts, this was a commercial decision.
Some of you guys & gals seem to be missing the point of the post and subject.
Mod, do us all a favour and close this thread and let this be the end to this as we all have better things to do.
And I for one applaud the efforts of each and everyone who has helped and assisted after this terrible disaster.

.....and besides, did anyone ever think they'd get a one hour turn round in HKT ?? Oh those poor punters going to AGP who were going to sit on a beach, oh just like those this 757 went to rescue. Time for this thread to close I think.

Was nice to the 752 flying through, from GLA tho DXB, enroute HKT.
Who really care's who got out whatever out of it, as long as long it was those poor buggers on the Indian Ocean rim who benefited.
