Air Andalucia paper airline or ready to take off?

Does anyone know anything about air andalucia (http://www.airandalucia.com)? Will this realistically ever take to the skies?

Who mentioned London City? Their website says "London-Kent", by which I assume they mean Manston.

If you go onto "company" on their website it states:

"The company will fly with modern Airbus 320 Aircraft. By next year additional planes will be added to serve our expanding network of destinations. Within the next two years it is expected to have a fleet of 18 aircraft. In 2005 there will be additional flights to Madrid, Barcelona and London City and the existing routes to London-Kent"

Air Andalucia Newsletter
Newsletter en español

sdf .28.10.2004

Dear Reader,
Welcome on board the Air Andalucia Newsletter. This is the first time that our team provides you with information about the latest developments around your friendly airline. As we approach our first take off, from now on you will receive our newsletter on a regular basis ensuring you are always up to date about everything regarding our company. We hope this will mean that we can welcome you on board of our aircraft as one of the first passengers.
We are looking forward to welcome you and fly you to one of our destinations.

The Air Andalucia Newsletter team

. Greetings from the C.E.O
Welcome to the first edition of the Air Andalucia newsletter. Over the past six months we have been recruiting our development and interim management team in preparation for our launch. I am very pleased with the progress we have made and I am looking forward to welcome our first customers in 2005.
Even now it is possible to support us by booking you car rental in partnership with AVIS through our website or if you are looking for accommodation then use our hotel booking service. This is just the beginning of a wide range “plus” products from Air Andalucia.

The question we are asked most often is “When will you start flying?” I wish the answer was simple but there are many factors involved in deciding the launch date. These factors include the right route structure, licensing, marketing and all the technical requirements. We are determined that all the issues are resolved and fully functional before we make the official announcement. However, we are working to make it all come together early 2005.

So we go step by step through the process and develop new partnerships that enhance our business model. The aim is to place Air Andalucia as a market leader and premier forward thinking airline built to meet the needs of our customers and shareholders.

I look forward to communicating our progress as time goes by.

Kevin Griffiths

Does anyone have any further updates?

Presumably the Winter '04 start was missed?

Option to join newsletter results in a page script error.

Those long haul destinations look utterley bizarre - and where would they go from - I can't see them working at GRX, MAD or MSE. Maybe LGW or STN, or another European hub with good feeders, but who would want to offer interlining opportunities with them?

"Unlike several low-cost airlines, Air Andalucia will fly to main airports in the major markets, where people really want to fly from and where Andalucians really want to travel to."

We've already beaten the fixed cost ticketing argument to death with Now/Never, but since when was MSE a main airport, if Ryanair won't even touch it! Hasn't FR's presence on STN and LPL to GRX also put a stop to the chances of any serious competition from there?

Also strikes me as slightly odd to focus on "where the Andalucians want to travel" - surely the majority of traffic here is inbound? And what on earth has Odense got to do with any of this?

From the A Jet site:

"AJet was established to deliver very focused airline services around the world. We anticipate that we will be operating 5 airlines by 2007."

Focused, and operating 5 airlines, including one loco A320 operator, one with A340s and one with commuter services into LCY?

Please don't tell me this is a serious company actually intending to turn someone a profit? Whoever said (Laker?) that the easiest way to become a millionaire in aviation was to start off as a billionaire could certainly teach these guys a few things!

Ps northfront - couldn't find anything in the MEL link - could you elaborate further?
