Getting one over on Michael O’Leary – free food and drink on Ryanair

Oh boy ! I’ve waited some time for retribution for being turned away in the very early days of the Ryanair photo-id only policy. But this evening it’s happened. Free food and drink on FR !!

In truth the FA seemed new, the flight was full, the sector was only about an hour. But my fare is £218 return, bought yesterday, not the sort of price Ryanair’s media image portrays, especially for short hops. And after serving me a hot ciabatta and a beer, and some uncertainty about the pricing, and with me with the exact money in my hand, the crew just moved on, seemingly a bit muddled about things. So it was all on Ryanair, £6.30 worth. Wow !

I shan’t say which sector it was, of course. But cheers, Michael !!

don't know for sure but i would imagine that the takings will have to balance at the end of the day. That means that MOL hasn't paid for your grub but the poor girl in the cabin out of her float

Would expect the cash to have to balance with the cash register - and the transaction's in neither. And the beneficiary is not me but my company, as I have no expenses receipt to submit !

I hope your beer was cold and enjoyable. Last time I flew with FR, they didn't even have any ice to go with the Pepsi I ordered. You need everything possible to make those tiny cans go along way. Or is no ice standard policy (I know Easyjet have ice as I used them for the outbound).

that is true but at the end of the day they will be a sandwhich etc down which someone ( the poorly paid cabin crew )will have to pay for.

Hope you are feeling happy with yourself - not an honest guy obviously, at least Ryanair are open about ripping the last minute bookers off - you just pulled in your neck, slumped in your seat and ate for free.

I can think of words to describe you - but the mods would censor me.

You owe an appology to the Senior Cabin Crew member! On this thread would do fine!

Calm down egnxema! I don't think many people will feel sorry for Ryanair in a situation like this, and I'm sure it wasn't the intention of the poster to rip the CC off.

I'd definately accept a free lunch off MOL.

So suddenly theft is acceptable is it??!!

Glad you can feel so proud to have committed what is in fact petty theft.

Bet you wouldnt be so quick to congratulate the junky that smacked your granny over the head and took the £6.30 from her purse!!

But hey you seem to think that is acceptable... MOL can afford it! So its OK!

Mate - my comments were not an expression of sorrow for Ryanair. Just annoyance that WHBM is proud enough of his dishonest character to boast about it on here.

It is this type of character that pushes Tube/Bus fares up by fare dodgers and pushes product prices up by shoplifters.

I have spent plenty of time in service industries to know for a fact that loads of people would be honest if they spotted an obvious error.

And Michael can pay for as many meals for me as he chooses, but I'll be happy knowing I didn't steal it.

And to the CC that paid for it from his/her float - I'm sorry that you got done by this git.

Looking at WBHM's post, Ryanair offered him the food, he had the money waiting, they didn't take the money. That is not theft, it's bad management on the part of the vendor.

Unfortnately for WHBM, he really only got about £2.00 out of Ryanair, as that is about what £6.30 worth of goods would cost!

Without going into all the legal jargon - it would take no effort on the part of someone motivated by honesty to lift his hand containing the right money and give it to the vendor, or to pass it to them on their way back.

It like saying that just because the barriers are open at your local tube station their is no need to buy a ticket.

But still, at the end of the day, it's midnight.

One sandwich is tiny compared to the millions the rail companies are losing each day because they don't check tickets properly.

This is the industry which needs a kick up the backside, not the airlines. I do wonder what the trains would be like if M'O'L got hold of one of the franchises!

Charging £218 return when the fare is probably advertised at £5 each way. I'd call that daylight robbery!

What a bunch of pious tosh!!

I hope in my reincarnation I'll be as upright and outstanding a character as egnxema and flying high!
God it must make you feel so superior to be able to elevate yourselves to such a high moral plain, please excuse me for the free pint I obtained from The Plough circa.1984 (I was a mate of the landlord), I now feel so ridden with guilt that I doubt I will make the day out.

Seriously though, if MOL can give away 500,000 free flights I dont see the problem with a free sarny, particularly as it was not a deliberate attempt at fraud.

New Ryanair Ops Manual directive - when flying in known icing conditions, anti icing systems will not be deployed. Passengers requiring ice with their drinks will be sent outside to get their own, and charged a door opening fee........

Goodness me what a pile of invective I have heaped upon my head !

Just for the information of those whose understanding of the law is not complete (I hope you were OK in Aviation Law in ground school) it is quite illegal in UK law to withhold anything from an employee's pay for shortfalls of any stocks or similar, and it has been for many years.

Flightmapping, no the beer was not cold because they did indeed have no ice and were apologising about it to others. Normal FR practice after about 15.00 it seems.

Are the CC in Ryanair employed under UK or Irish law though?
