BMIbaby In the bad books with local press

Hi All

I read in my local paper, the Derby Evening Telegraph, yesterday and today, people are writing in complaining about bad service from BMIbaby.
In todays issue, a couple trying to fly from Jersey back to EMA, had there flight cancelled due to fog, the next flight for them was in 4 days time !!!!! so in the end they caught the ferry to Portmouth and then a train to Derby and then a taxi to EMA to get there car back, a total cost of £200.00, but BMIbaby will not compensate them ?
This is really bad press for BMIbaby at the moment, i don't know if there is a link to the Derby Evening Telegraph so you can see it, maybe some one could find it, it is in the section of the Editors letters.
My friend who lives in Nottingham says they had a similiar thing in the local press a few weeks ago about BMIbaby.

Had these people not heard of Thomsonfly (CVT) or Flybe (BHX)? I know there have been lots of reports of baby problems at EMA, but there are easier ways of getting back than using the ferry.

mike do you have a grudge against bmibaby, everytime i read the threads here, you are always highlighting the problems that bmibaby encounter!

why should bmibaby compensate them, it was due to bad weather, the last thing i want to be reading is about baby losing an aircraft, but then again it might give you something to write about!!

safety is paramount!

The Nottingham Evening Post called them "BMIMaybe" a few weeks ago!

Book on a cheap and nasty airline - get what you pay for!

i wouldnt go so far as to call them a "cheap and nasty" airline!!

cheap yes, but not nasty, they do have problems but how can problems with weather be a companies fault, its not like something they can control!!

if its tech then thats something the company can control, but weather is a no

we all have problems, i think that maybe baby need to remember that passengers make paydays possible and look at the customer service side!

if your airline cancels a flight would they compensate the formentioned couple?

Hi Airboy

The airline i work for, would refund the flight. If a flight is delayed for 4 hours or more, it refunds. The first alternative would be to get them home, if having to use new crew from another base.
I feel BMIbaby need to look at there policies on this futher

would your airline have landed at an airport where the weather was too bad??

the issue is not about getting new crew, the airfield was unavailable!!! what could baby have done?

there are a few delays for baby today at EMA, time to start a new thread mike!!

If tech problems occur at outstations the station that always lose an aeroplane is NEMA. This is a normal occurance . If an aeroplane is "playing up" with tech problems then it is brought to NEMA for maintenance .Hence the delays out of NEMA ! It isn't that complicated to work out .Maybe other lowcost operators don't get any tech problems until nightstop ?

Mike

I am pretty sure that it is bmibaby policy to offer a refund too in this case, or a later flight. The point of this was that they didn't offer an alternative method of transport to the pax concerned. Would EZY really have done much more? This is why passengers can enjoy the low fares of today .... no frills = little or no backup when things go wrong.

So would Easyjet COMPENSATE in situations like these or do they just offer REFUNDs - there is a difference.

For those wonder what the fuss is all about, have a look here - a grand sum of THREE letters to the editor.

Oh Mike....
U really don/t help yrself yourself, at times !!
Baby have the same policy as Easy regarding the 4 hour delay rule... But, in the case of weather, the airline can NEVER be held responsible...U can bet that there is more to this than meets the eye !!
Journalistic licence, of course !!
Hope you enjoyed AGP !!
I'm off to Notts for a bevvie !!!
Tot ziens !!
