Longest Domestic route in the world?
Hello all,
Was reading one of the Aviation related papers at work the other day and it was talking about the Caribbean and the differences between French and British Caribbean islands. Air France' flight from Paris CDG to Martinique is 8 1/2 hrs long and the French apparently class it as a domestic service. Are there any longer domestic routes out there that are non-stop or otherwise? I was thinking maybe in Russia or Canada, or maybe Eastern USA to Hawaii or Alaska? Cheers!

I never actually counted the French flights as domestic in the same sense as, well, flights within a country's actual territory, without flying over international waters. In fairness, they are domestic flights, since Martinique is a Department Outre Mer.
Interestingly, the flight from ORY to FDF (Fort de France) is 4,255 miles, whereas the flight that I'd have considered the longest domestic trip, Moscow to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatka is 4,200.
However, EWR-HNL is 4,963mi, easily the longest domestic flight.
