bmi to operate Manchester to Toronto

It was announced this morning that the 3rd A330 will operate Manchester to Toronto in cooperation with Air Canada once it has completed the current Falkland Island contract.

If they connected with QR flights, they would make a fortune.

Why QR????? Is there large volumes travelling Qatar to Toronto????? Wouldn't these currently go via somewhere big like London, Paris or Frankfurt????

Large Asian community in Toronto. QR connect to everywhere in SE Asia and have very convenient connex in Doha. Their planes are always full. Now 3X / week to MAN but no 5th freedom rights . Makes sense to me.
QR need a North american connection, and BMI would provide the lift at no cost to QR.
If I had the backing I would do it myself with A300-600R and clean up on freight at the same time!
