Jet 2 wins punctuality award
Great news for Jet 2 and its not just AMS either they very rarely are delayed on any route mainly because of having the spare ac available.
It's official! Jet2.com is the top airline to
Amsterdam
Low cost airline Jet2.com could complete a hat-trick
of awards for punctuality at Amsterdam's Schiphol
Airport - one of Europe's largest and busiest - having
already been voted the most punctual European low cost
airline and UK airline into the Dutch capital.
Jet2.com, which has fought off competition from
airlines across the world, is waiting to hear whether
it lands the top gong over Finland's Finnair and
Denmark's Maersk Air for the most punctual airline
award.
All 80 airlines, which operate to and from Schiphol
were considered for the 2003 punctuality award, which
is now in its eleventh year. The overall winner will
be presented with the coveted prize on 5th February by
Marike van Lier Lels, the airport's vice president, at
a ceremony on the Schiphol site.
Philip Meeson, chief executive of Jet2.com, commented:
"To be nominated for our punctuality is a major
achievement for Jet2.com. This is in addition to
already being recognised as the best airline for on
time performance from the UK and also in the highly
competitive European low cost sector.
"Many people still talk about low cost airlines being
unreliable with their timekeeping, so this recognition
demonstrates how Jet2.com is striving to operate on
time, every time!"
Leon Verhallen, marketing manager at Schiphol Airport,
added:
"Over 40 million passengers travel through Schiphol
Airport every year and punctuality is a key
requirement for the success of any carrier.
"Previous winners of the overall punctuality award
have all been major carriers from the Nordic region.
However, this year Jet2.com is the first UK carrier of
any description to have even been nominated, which
highlights its growing reputation on the continent."

Congratulation Jet2
Well done, but at what cost with a back up aircraft for every other flight?
Might not be so easy over the summer if these 737 are going to start flying for their keep. With the engineers under them every other day it is either a lot of preventitive maintainence or weed removal?
Be nice to see them all take off on the same day, hope you guys have a great summer, once again well done.

We’d all find it easier to have great punctuality if we had more backup aircraft than aircraft actually flying. With the parked fleet at LBA, Jet2 must be just short of considering basing some aircraft downroute as backups...
Fair play to them anyway mind.

The Jet2 fleet will again be used to their full potential come the start of the summer season.
Surely its better to scale back operations over the winter, than opperating an aggressive schedule at this quiet time of year.

Still good news on the punctuality awards. They have set their stall out to be very customer-focussed and punctuality levels and customer service are important to them. Its something they seem to do very very well but I’ve always been surprised how reticent they’ve been to talk themselves up. The announcement of these awards is a rare “Jet2 tell the world how good they are” moment.
