Confusion About Summer @ NCL

There seems to be a bit confusion about the based charter units at NCL for the Summer 2004 season.

The Britannia, MyTravel Airways and Thomas Cook Airlines units seem pretty clear - each will base two aircraft - 2 x 767; 1 x A320 & 1 x A321, and; 2 x B757 respectively.

However, I cannot work out a logical schedule for the Excel Airways based unit, and have not heard a thing about European Air Charter's unit.

According to the XLA website shows flights to ALC, ACE, FAO, EFL, AGP, PMI, TFS and ZTH on the drop down list. This seems to be a very light schedule for a based unit. A full look through their full timetable which is available on their website shows even further confusion.

There is no ALC flight, a Thursday morning departure to ACE, a Saturday 'W' to FAO, no EFL flight, a Saturday morning AGP flight, a Saturday afternoon PMI flight, a Wednesday morning flight to RHO (which appears to 'W' with BHX between it's NCL departure and return, a Friday morning flight to TFS and a Sunday afternoon 'W' from ZTH.

Then again, according to Kosmar's website, there is a Monday morning XLA to CFU. Further confusion comes when you look at their flight guide, when apparently Islandsflug operate a ZTH 'W' at exactly the same time as XLA do.

Kosmar were reported to be operating an aircraft all of their own at NCL this summer. It has been reported that EAF will be operating for them, but most of Kosmar's programme this season is operated by Islandsflug who appear to be flying to ZTH and CHQ on 'W', and also to JTR, JSI/VOL, HER, and KGS with a (part) based a/c. Aegean Airlines also operate a substantial number of flights into NCL, serving ATH, CFU, EFL, RHO and SKG at various points during a week.

This mish mash of information, coupled with no apparrent schedule from EAF, and SCY advertising on it's website for staff to work from NCL in the Summer 2004 season would suggest to me that SCY will continue to do the bulk of XLA's work. Any information would be welcome!!!

Also I don't know if people are getting mixed up between Kosmar and Cosmos, but apparrently the latter were also interested in basing an a/c at NCL, as the seem to have quite a growing programme at the airport, possibly MON @ NCL.

Also, does anyone have a timetable for AV8Air's summer programme? Which South African destinations are they flying to? I know it is two out of Cape Town, Durban and/or Port Elizabeth?

And does anyone know which non-based charters will operate into the airport. Both destinations and airlines, please!

With EZY adding routes with seeming regularity and increased frequencies on some routes, looks like an interesting, if confusing year at NCL!

NCL is always like this before summer schedules!

This is the schedule that Excel/EAF will operate upto now. Things are subject to change and bear in mind that Excel use alot of other airlines so some flights maybe be operated by XLA, some may not!!

European Air Charter 737-300

Mon FNC 0900/1740
Mon CFU 1900/0300
No flights Tue/Wed/Thu
Fri JSI/VOL 0725/1655
Fri CFU 1900/0300
Sat EFL 0700/1530
Sat KGS 1630/0225
Sun ZTH 0500/1330
Sun EFL 1500/2310

Excel Airways 737-800

Mon CFU 0530/1325
Mon JSI 1440/2310
Tue JTR 0715/1630
Tue ALC 1900/0155
Wed RHO 0700/1630
Wed PFO 1745/0345
Thu SKG 0730/1520
Thu ACE 1645/0230
Fri TFS 0700/1630
Fri HER 1915/0415
Sat AGP 0600/1340
Sat PMI 1500/2140
Sat RHO 2255/0825
Sun LCA 1045/2135

W flights are also scheduled to operate to FAO (sat), ZTH (sun) using non based aircraft units.

Aegean will operate many flights plus the usual charter mix which usually visits NCL. New for S2004 are Lauda Air to SZG, Viking Airlines, First Choice Airlines operating 2 weekly flights.

Cosmos will not be basing this summer. And I suspect considering EAF have no 737-300 at the moment that SCY may well carry out their work!!!

AV8 are flying to DUR (tue), ACE (thu), TFS x2 (fri), AGP, ALC (sat) and PLZ (sat) - using other 767!

easy are rumoured to be starting FAO, GVA and increasing CDG!

It is all very confusing and be assured the airport is working on a programme now and it SHOULD be released soon.

Hope it helps, PM me should you need anything else.

Based Islandsflug 734 on Kosmar programme.

Based Excel 738 on core programme.

Aircraft to operate "overspill" from Excel programme is still to be decided but won't be an EAC 737-300 as rumour has it that they won't be getting any this summer.
