Hey guys, call me crazy but I really don't think this is the way to find yourself work in the motherland. I am also a newbie with the cpl/meir etc and when I first got all my paperwork, I thought the solution was to go around looking for people advertising for jobs and drop off the CVs and wait. Oh how mistaken I was...
What you'll find with African charter companies is that if they are actually advertising for a job, they already have people in mind and have no intention of hiring anybody new. The only reason they put the ad up is to fulfill legal requirements for job equality. Eventually I wised up and began walking up and down the road of HKNW. And I learned more in 3 weeks of walking than I did in 2 months of precision paper dropping. If you want a job, you need facetime with other pilots, CFIs and chief pilots. That's it. you'll find most of the chief pilots in GA have been in it for a long time and went through the same stress you are going through. They are full of tips to try and make friends and find work. So I hung around the airport for weeks until I made a few friends. Friends led to a couple of chance encounters with company chiefs at the locals and soon enough, I got THAT phone call because somebody had heard from a mutual friend that I was looking for work. I got my check flight without him even looking at my CV or logbook. Moral of the story? If you are a low hour pilot looking for work in this corner of the earth, make your face and your story known. One day somebody will be willing to give you a shot. Looking for stuff online got me nowhere and I really wish somebody had told ME that when I started off. |
Looking for a F70/100 job
Hi guys,
a friend of mine just came back from his Fokker 70/100 type rating. He has contract work over the summer but would like to have a full time contract anywhere worldwide. I guess, Africa is probably still the best place for Fokker 70/100 pilots to go. Does anyone of you guys know where to send him to? |
Go to google. Type in "Fokker 100 operator" and then see how many you find in Africa.

Anyway take heart you will find a job. Remember all the people here were jobless at one time, some still are but still there are some vacancies out there and there still are new ones to come either now or in future definitely. Just never give up :ok: I don't believe all the people applying for jobs online or posting their hours here are just sitting on their a**es, some are getting out there ("tarmacking") so PPRUNERS cut them some slack. |

C210 jobs in Namibia..
Evening all,
I've just booked my holiday to Namibia and was wondering whats the chances of getting a bush flying job while I'm out sight seeing for the next month or so? If soo whats life out there like on the long term? and chances of getting a flying job with just 300TT? Any help will be much appreciated, |
Southwest, or Namibia, makes outsiders cry twice. Once when they arrive, see the barren wastes and think they've made a mistake, and then when they leave. It is paradise.

Same as it was, if you are in the right place in the right time you might be hired by one of the companies. Go to Eros Airport and try to meet a couple of pilots.

This is quite scare-reeee. I feel so un-qualified compare to some of the guys posted on here, guys with 1000hrs and jet type ratings!! Anyway, here it goes.
