Exclamation Asmara Airport (Eritrea) Info

Hope the Moderators will forgive me this one-time double post... !

Hi all, I would appreciate any first hand info. you might have of operating into Asmara, in Eritrea. (HHAS).

Any info re:

- ATC
- Terrain
- Fuelling
- Ground Handling
- Charges

... etc., would be highly appreciated.

Why not try the African forum down below, just have some patience after you have posted it up and you will get a reply from some of the guys who have operated out of that area.
Better than let it just die away here !

I live in Asmara at the moment and operate the Hawker out of there.

There are no real problems. ATC are very good, the avionics all work. Ground Handling by Eritrean Airways, very freindly people.

Asmara is the cleanest and safest city in Africa. I don't think there has ever been a mugging or highjacking in the history of the country. I personally never even bother taking the keys out of my Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Jet A1 is available from Shell. (no avgas)

Only 2 things need special attention;

1, field elevation 7600'

2, border conflict with Ethiopia so watch out for routings in and out.
