Ethiopian

If anyone has information about flying 787 on 20/10 commuting contract? Destinations, flying hours, off days in base etc, thanks in advance.

Also looking for some info on Ethiopian, from the FO perspective.

Will the upgrade expat FO's to capt? How is the roster and life in general there? Rated and hours on both B777 & B787.

Thanks

Interesting. This contract has been coming through on my email for the last few weeks. I wonder if they're fishing for interest before approaching Ethiopian with a sales pitch of "look how many pilots we can offer you?"

Fly Safe,

I commute from Europe, and I like the 20/10 roster. The roster will change during your 20 days, but who cares really, if you are here anyways.. Days off in Addis: dont expect many more than the bare minimum. Hours: on 787 you basically fly your butt of. 100 hours a month is not at all rare. 787 flies both Africa, Europe,Asia, and the US, Sorry that I cant be more detailed than that, but Im on a different aircraft.

Tricia....today is the first time that I've heard of Expat FO's. I'll try to find out more on what it's about...now heading home for 10 days off :-)

Actually Tricia, I apologise and stand corrected. They have indeed advertised for Expat FOs on their website. This is an interesting development...

MD80767 Driver, appreciate your helpful update.
Just a quick question, on a three or four crew operion, do you log all the flying hours including inflight rest or just the hours spent in the cockpit? Thanks.

Fly safe......I dont believe that you log 'bunk time' but I'll ask around since I dont do those. Lots of operating time though. 787 flies lots of 2 pilot trips. Main thing though..you get paid regardless :-)

Hi Tricia,

Well, I'm pretty sure that you will be put off by this...don't shoot the messenger please

For FO's already rated and with min. 500 hours on B777/787 :

Basic salary : USD 3750
Overtime : USD 1/80 per hour
Bonus : 10% of accumulated basic salary, paid every 6 months
Perdiem : USD 60 per day of work
Housing : USD 1200 per month

Flights home and back to Addis : Confirmed Economyclass or Jumpseat

Here comes what will REALLY put you off, I reckon

Although a FO shows up, rated and with at least 500 hours of experience, ET STILL wants you to pay a 'Training bond of USD 8000. USD 4000 upfront, and the remaining 4000 deducted from your salary over 3 years. At the end of that 3 year contract, they will pay you the 8000 back.

Captains arriving rated and experienced, are (of course) not asked to pay for something, that they are giving to Ethiopian for free. But it seems like FO's are.

Again..dont shoot the messenger.. I thought that this was a joke / Mistake, but ET has confirmed 3 times to me now, that these are the conditions

Maybe ask Flightglobal, if they are aware of this little detail.....

Thanks so much for going to all that trouble!

Defiantly will not be applying to this one! I really feel for anybody that feels that they must accept these conditions.

Thank you again! Sorry to say, I wont get chance to buy you a coffee/beer in Addis to thank you in person.

Lool....anytime Tricia. 'Funny' that FlightGlobal neglects to talk about that little 'detail'.......

I will be back with you, if ET changes their minds. I've told them to get real!! Be careful with that coffee. If you offer me a free coffee, I might charge you the price of an extra 2 coffees, just because you are buying me one loool
