On IRS Nigeria
As a fan of Fokker F100s, I always follow news on IRS, sole operators of the type in Nigeria. I'd appreciate help with answers to the following:
Does the fleet number 5 machines?
Is it true that 3 of these are grounded?
At the Arik ramp at Ikeja, an F100 is parked. Is it -CEO?
To my untrained eye, that plane may never fly again. Will it?
Are flight and engineering crew Nigerian, or a mix of Ngn and foreign?
I look forward to responses, fellow ppruners.
God bless

I'm prepared to be corrected....
- Still five aircraft registered with IRS as operators....
- Let's say at least two are probably 'inactive' ....
- Not sure which one....You could be correct....I'll check next month....
- This is West Africa....Who knows ?....Agree, the one I'm thinking about does look a bit sorry for itself and appears to be missing a few fairly essential bits and pieces....
- Those I know and and have met are all African, not necessarily Nigerian....

Thanks Hussar, Naira
I appreciate the info, gentlemen.
One thing IRS can be noted for is zest, and a yen to be different.
Recall, when they introduced F28s, they were loners of the type on the Nigerian scene. Which probably meant more headaches/costs hiring local pilots and techs, who are more used to Boeing products. Even the initial fleet of 2 B727s is said to have taxed them in high op cost. But they stuck it out, transitioning to the F100, a natural progression from the F28.
Hussar, I look forward to more info next week.
