@flareout BC

Fact is, I'm exasperated by the expat phenom, and the monster we have let it become in this country.
So what are you exasperated about ???

Is it the process of international integration arising from the interchange of world views, products, ideas, and other aspects of culture???

I am not sure, if you understand our modern world my friend !
You will find the so called "expat phenom" every where on our planet, it is called globalization !!!!

Nigeria is an emerging market with a number of companies with foreign interests either entering in to joint ventures with Nigerian companies or as wholly owned foreign companies. Often times, there is need for the engagement of specialized expatriate personnel to undertake assignments in various fields especially in technical services.

That's part of the game in a globalized economy, it does not only apply for Nigeria, it applies for every country in the world................

Stallfail, we have a crisis

But this may not be the forum to discuss it.
I don't argue with emerging markets and globalization and all that.
I only maintain that, like the new ppruner 250hours observed, the right seats of commercial aircraft should be reserved for locals, especially where untold numbers of suitable candidates are unemployed or underemployed, which, except the newspapers are wrong, is the case in this country.
That's what they do in India and China, who are BRICS nations. Why don't Chinese or Indian nationals remember globalization and integration where their (suitable) brethren wish to indulge a hard earned passion, or maybe earn a living? Because they are building their nations.
Whether you like it or not, to recruit expats to fly right seat 40 yrs after your nation established a world class flying school, is to fail woefully.
"The mass export of Chinese workers to man Chinese companies in Africa is not helping African countries" (Africans should do the work)
Speaker: A Chinese academic
Venue: Panel discussion at Davos 2013
Panelists: Global movers and shakers in the world of finance and investments. IOW, people who should know.

Err, should we discuss the Lebanese bucaneer, an Abacha crony, who, in a handful of years, imported 15,000 Lebanese to do jobs Nigerians should do (Sahara Reporters)?
Perhaps not. It's just that the stupefying number of construction contracts his family's companies enjoy are not suited to the Nigerian brand of management/engineering skills. What of their unbelievably daft billion dollar oil and gas concessions, hotels, real estate, import companies etc? Nada, Nigerians are not good enough either. You gotta remember globalization and integration....

@ Stallfail

Foreigners should not do jobs Nigerians can do. What's hard in that?

Lebanese family

I wont name them, I leave that to flareout BC. But any business they win on fair grounds is alright by me. Since this forum is meant for aviation, here is their fleet.
(1) Falcon 7X (first machine off the production line; often in Lagos)
(2) Falcon 900EX. Rotates to Beirut, otherwise based in Paris.
(3) Another Falcon, exact model unknown to me
(4) Mid 1990s, a Falcon 200, whose engines gave them much trouble.

flareout BC, no crisis at all

If you read my text, you won't find any comment if globalization is good or bad !!
I agree in many points to your arguments, although it won't change a bit.
My point is, we are living in a globalized world, nobody asked me neither you, if we'r fine with it or not !!!

I can understand your frustration, but the situation won't change as long as companies can get more experienced guys from outside the country.

The same thing happens everywhere in the world and we should get used to it..

Globalization OK, jobless Nigerians, not

Flareout didn't quarrel with globalization.
Nigerians who can fly right seat aren't, but foreigners are.
They shouldn't, if Nigerians can. Which is the case.
Flareout probably means Nigerians can do those 15,000 Lebanese jobs.
I don't see what's frustrating about that

Did you just wonder how you can ever soar like an eagle? Well, you ain't an eagle, the real eagles are super and Nigerians!

And you can't soar simply because you are wingless which aligns with 'stalling' and 'failing' (probably explains why you are aptly named stallfail)

Do note that even the pigeons can fly, they just ain't allowed to lift off because there are so many wingless eagles lazying about working half as less as the pigeons and chopping per diems!

Pilots are "HIGH VALUE TARGETS FOR KIDNAPPING". As we read constantly, there are kidnappings of foreigners for profit. One wanders what the responsibilities are for the companies that employ Pilots, and others, are, in these countries. Please see the link
