Flying over Africa - Europe to South Africa

SLF here. Have done this trip a couple of times since Christmas, and just wondered what ATC / Flying is like from the Med down to SA at the pointy end of the a/c, as you do have large tracts of space with limited infrastructure and intresting weather to cross. I do know Africa and its "problems", but just intrested in your perspective Ladies and Gentlemenn as aircrew.

Not much of an issue.

HF radio for GND comms when far away from stations, and a VHF air to air freq for reporting position to others.

Of course there are some dubious characters buzzing around unannounced, but hey, its Africa - can't be fixed.

See and avoid where you can. Hope and pray where you cant...

126.9 and TCAS are your friends. And fly a cheeky SLOP. And know where you are.
