Pow-wow your understanding is much appricated, You're absolutely right with the things yov said! Hence why I named the thread 'Everyone up there has started from somewhere!' Nearly 80% of people think on here that there God's gift! Its a shame for such a professional set of guys tryin to kill young wannabes hopes!

B737Dude, I have of late taken part in a few discussions on PPRune with many local pilots from Africa. You have been labeled as naive inexperienced and well just simply damn stupid. If I where you, I would hesitate no further. I would get my ass down to Africa fast, you going to fit in perfectly.

I say! That's an hilarious rejoinder! Time to be helpful?
All of the questions were dealt with in post #10 which even provided a very helpful alternative short career prospect suggestion. Sadly to say, no thanks were received for the helpful hint.
Faraway destinations are always difficult to decide upon but there would appear to be a lot of young whipper snappers, some in dire need of spoon feeding, swanning around Botswana and South Africa. So those are two destinations to bear in mind. Nambia is an excellent place if you are a German speaker of certain ancestral antecedents.
But in the meantime perhaps if the thread starter would be so good as to narrow the options ? A few more specific hints as to what precise detailed information he might require from the chosen God given professionals who frequent these pages.
As someone so accurately pointed out earlier, Africa is a patchwork of many countries and the sandpit is not the same as the swamp. What the Sheik of Saudi Arabia might like to see as a qualification is not necessarily what the King of Swaziland might want to get into bed with.

Dude, don't waste your time, go search here for the information, pick a place and then pack your stuff and go there, knock on doors, make friends. This is how everyone - including me - did it. Eventually you get a job based on your perseverance and yihaaa...
Good luck on your quest.

Some of these posts make me ashamed to be a pilot. Some of you sound like little school girls trying to protect your dollies.
Give the guy a break thank goodness we have some enthusiastic people trying to get a career going, these are the people that the majors want flying for them.
B737 Dude keep the enthusiasm up, keep asking for help and dont stop till you get what you deserve.
Africa is a fantastic place to start a career, you will look back at your contract days as the best flying of your life.
As some posts say get out to Africa ( Kenya, Bots, Nam, Zim, Tan) knock on doors smile large and show your enthusiasm, you will find something and love the time potting around Africa..... we all did.

Good luck

Now in my dotage so I dont have a horse in this race.

FWIW, flying in Africa was great 30 years ago but it has definitely been going downhill for quite a while now. There was a time when anyone with a nice new CPL could find work, especially around the game reserves.
There are still jobs out there, a few people find work in Maun for example but competition is stiff so you need more hours and experience on the right aircraft to stand out from the crowd.

Work permits for most countries are getting very difficult, governments want jobs to be filled by the locals if possible.

Add to this the fact that the world economy is going to hell in a handbasket and it really is tough out there for inexperienced pilots to get a decent job. Africa looks big on the map but it represents only a tiny portion of the aviation world so the job prospects are better elsewhere.

OTOH, If you think you are good enough why not give it a try. Just get to the right places and treat it as a fun adventure holiday with the POSSIBILITY of finding work. Great places, great people and every youngster needs to see a bit of the world so if you can afford it just give it a try.
