It's one thing debating the glass half full/empty point, and another calling an empty glass full.

You can't brown nose on a forum - the (in)famous internet anonymity of course works both ways you see But still - arguing that a 'positive attitude' will somehow magic away terminally poor (note my choice of words and implied prediction ) managerial skills by a company is pretty much filled with fail.

And yeah - too late on the 'hostie control' there dude

So sad that you can't possibly imagine being happy with your job.

Jealousy truly makes you nasty.

Ironic handle

"Island Dreamer" (probationary ppruner). Mmm interesting..

Apart from the fact that you are so obviously either, one of the incompetent cretins who are running a once good company into the ground, or just another "yes man/woman", who are willing to forsake all principals in order to satisfy the commercial demands of your masters, you really are quite delusional. Nobody, in their right mind would be "jealous" of working at "once upon a time".

"Hong Kong"... Ha ha. I think NOT.
"Dreamer" ... Absolutely!

I see the "If you're not with us, you're against us", brigade is alive and well. Somebody even posted my name on this site. Wow! So desperate to be RIGHT!

Spent many a good year there...miss the people and the fun ! Don't have anything to add to the action but I had a blast there...and yes if you know me you know my ID. Enjoy the flying no matter where you are, better than sitting in an office five days a week in a suit.

Well, like Skotty said. Have a blast, build some hours quickly and get out. It is only if you expect them to behave like a career airline that you'll be dissapointed. Seen it at NTW, same there. Only a career for the young inexperineced FO looking for jet time quickly and the guys close to retiring and just optimising there pension. The MD is a great aircraft to fly and the crew are great. If you want a long and comfortable airlne career, join SAA, Emirates, Cathay, Comair etc. Bottom line, if you don't like it, go somewhere else. I'm sure its not the first time you've heard that statement. Management at 1time has more than a profound dislike of crew, they inhereted the worst of NTW and Comair a few years ago as far as the attitude towards crew are concerned. So don't expect to be cuddled.I know, weird setup, but enjoy the flying whilst you can! Nothing worst than a real office job!

Happy Crew

Come on Kykweer, you really thing the bosses of SAA, Comair LIVE to make their pilots happy as well? I think the SAA bosses, and their bosses would give their left testicles to get rid of the entrenched force that is the SAA pilot pool.

Every airline in the world GRUDGINGLY pays out the flight deck salary every month. We're an expensive, top heavy burden on any airline's salary bill. YAY! I like my salary...

Happiness comes from within...

JJB - Who said that airline bosses "Live" to make their pilots happy? Fact is, I work for an airline that makes a profit. They pay me well, they train me well and I in return works hard. They assist to ensure a comfortable retirement. They provide job security by providing medical aid, dissability insurance etc. They have flexable roster practises, and when I come to work I am comfortable, well fed and generally treated well. I like my job. In turn I operate their equipment with utmost dedication and efficiency and respond be being polite and curtious to fellow staff members. We don't always agree with our management, but we do respect them, and they respect us. Crew are all generally positive with good moral. We don't have a union. Our pilot turnover is less than 2%. We are happy, the company makes money and managment is happy. Sounds like paradise? No, far from it, but it is the reality in a well managed airline. You'll find the same pilot sentiment in a lot of other airlines. How has your airline's pilot turnover been? I don't have to be happy with your airline, I don't work there! You must be happy there - you are still there, so don't try and sell us the "Happiness within" story. Face reality and stop trying to make out everybody that dare critisise the paradise you work in to be such miserable, unhappy little people.

Nobody needs to post your name on this site as everybody knows who you are. That is why you enjoy the level of "respect" that you do. Zero..

You are one of the reasons why the pilot body at 1Time has been so unsucessful in negotiating a decent package. Management knows exactly who they can count on to " divide and conquer". They know who can be called when a "dodgy" call must be made.

I have seen you "operate" mate...

Just saying...

Like what 4enginejock
Get IPAD 2's and then make the captains pay for them or sign them out so if they lose them they have to put in the mula to pay for lost property, F/O's are not getting IPAD 2's, don't they know about Outsurance (you always get something out) , other companies give their laptops to the captains and F/O's for the elctronic flight bag......

Gchangflyer true I don’t work for them!! But know a few guys that are very happy and have been there for a long time!!!
But there has to be something good at 1 Time.
Do they pay on time?
These days we just have to be thankful for what we have.
You work you get paid!
As to the I Pads. I agree with Spongebathbob. That’s a bit too much!!! Should spend a bit more and install the real EFB,those you can’t remove!!!

iPad

Apparently the Capt`s pay their own iPad2, the F/O`s also pay their own, just gets deducted from their salaries, they can decide which model they want Gig wise. The unit will be updated anytime upon sign on or when in the office, and the unit is switched on, Jepps, rosters, and all info downloaded, saves a lot of paperwork! At any company you will have politics and crew that never seems to be happy..these days be lucky you have a job, Link, SAX, anywhere for that matter, not many jobs around unless you want to go Middle East or Far East!

Ha ha ha! Spongebathbob, I don't know who you are, or what you fly, but where ever you get your gen from is seriously the wrong place. Incase you are unaware, technismart magazine published an article on 1time moving towards a PAPERLESS cockpit by aquiring ipad's! I can assure you both crew in the flight deck will have one each. As for having to pay for it, I believe it is a 50\50 deal, company will pay for half, crew pay for the other half!I have yet to meet one 1time pilot that is unhappy about this deal!
My suggestion to you, GET A LIFE! Judging by your gen, you do not work for the company, and clearly you don't want to. That's fine, nobody is forcing you to. 1time is a company that has an awesome bunch of crew working for them! Somebody like you, would just destroy that.

Have a great day everyone, fly safe.
