1time CEO, DFO & Cabin Crew Director asked to step down
 

Rumor has it that a 1time Captain has been fired as management FORCED him to take a non service dog into the cabin as this Oscar dog brings in a lot of ching ching into the company. CAA has asked the 3 above mentioned musketeers to step down. Any truth?:eek:

That's more or less how the story goes. But as far as I know it was'nt the only reason the CAA stepped in and asked the three musketeers to step down as nominated postholders. The safety manager also got fired after loosing all the safety reports by crew just prior to the audit - stolen out of his vehicle apparently. The same DFO is apparently now the safety manager as well. They did'nt get a clean bill of health during the past few CAA audits and they had to have 90 day follow up audits. Anyway, that the storey I got. -Post updated due more complete info.

I have a feeling that this thread would be interesting (really)....if only it was written in some kind of comprehensible language. Really - I have almost no idea what you guys are talking about. Dog? A real dog? Is it's name Oscar? How does it make money (I mean - it's just a dog, right?)

Shrike200 I'm glad you asked. I was feeling kinda' stupid. This is rather like trying to read 'Nigerian' lingo. It sounds more like a drug deal going down in down town Jozy.

Apparently it was the "Jock of the Bushveld" dog. Or the one trained to be "Jock". Not a service dog like a guide dog. Despite what the ops manual said, people higher up in the company insisted that the dog travel in style.

As far as I understand the Captain did not get dismissed for this incident as he was well within his rights, however they found/fabricated something else for him to be found guilty of.

Th dog in questions name is oscar, it is a sight dog and is fairly well known in charity circles.

All that is posted here is just one side of the story! The dog story in the cabin has nothing to do why this Captain is fired, there was another incident after that too. But I will be way out of line to discuss this in a public forum and this got nothing to do with me and the peole out there. But guys before getting nasty, always remember there is 3 sides of a story!:=

In fact, the way I have it, the Captain did not even get dismissed. The bogus charges against him were withdrawn, then they gave him 2 months notice - koebaai! Perfectly legal since he works through the much debated labour broker / trust system much punted by their management. So much for job security. Not the first time it has happened and won't be the last. And here I was thinking the sandpit is punitive!

Re Oscar the dog. He is definately not a sight dog. He is a SPCA rescue that travelled the world with his owner to raise awareness for SPCA rescued dogs. A noble cause indeed. The yanks then felt sorry and allowed Oscar in the cabin by labelling him as a service dog. Service dogs are often used by epiletics etc. Yet Oscar was not trained as any of these. Anyway, the Captain was within his right to deny boarding, but I am convinced if it was liased with him prior with the correct CAA endorsement, it would have been no problem. From the info I got, this story unfolded this way because cabin crew management phoned and insisted he takes the dog in the cabin. I think it will get any Captain's back up if the cabin crew managment starts telling what to load and what not. Sounds very much ala NTW where hosties ran the airline. Then the thing just snowballed up to the point where CAA called the Captain in. Anyway, looks like a royal management stuff up to start off with. Maybe TAH will post the real story. As for 3 sides to a story, maybe his FO can add the 2nd side.

Shrike 200 just to give you some idea, I have heard through a great and extremly reliable source.

One of the ex 1time pilots went for an interview with SAA an waallaaa and anonymous letter lands on the desk of SAA's interview board stateing what a bad and unreliable pilot this guy is, now you must ask, who on earth would do this outside the company, its still under pending investigation that SAA is conducting, I trully hope they find this person.:ok:

So getting rid of the problem by dimissing this captain or what ever happened is nothing new for 1time to do to their staff.

That practice is not limited to 1Time, Mr Bob.:suspect:

Wow! What an amazing amount of negativity from people living in such fear. I just can't do that guys. I'm a glass half full person, still having a great time at 1time - I know that sounds pathetic to most PPRune posters, but that airline is a blast to work for. Just putting it out there so you don't all think it's doom and gloom. Oh, and a hostie must just try ONCE to take control of my flight.... I don't think so...
