Minimum requirements:
Newspaper did talk about safety/i.e. minimum requirement:...."ERJ135 captain has a little more than 2 000 flight hours of experience as a pilot, while the career path agreed on by Air Namibia and the association requires at least 4 000 flight hours of experience for this position"....
is this what the fuss is about?

It seems like things are finally shaping up at SW, here is their second ERJ 135 (V5-ANG) on approach at Palma for a night-stop on its way to Windhoek. All the best to the warriors flying out of Eros...

As to the questions regarding crew requirements:
Air Namibia has opted to train their own crew on the ERJ, since the training of the initial crew compliment was part of the whole deal, in other words almost free.
There are at the moment 7 Captains (4 ex B190 Captains, 2 former 735 F/Os and 1 A340 Captain) with another 3 Captains in training right now (1 ex B190 Capt and 2 ex A340 F/Os). The A340 Captain will become TRI/TRE on the fleet and is only during the initial phase of the fleet structuring part of the daily line operation but will later go back to the A340 fleet and only do the odd ERJ flight in between in order to stay current, apart from his duties as TRI/TRE.
Then there are 7 F/Os (all ex B190 F/Os) with another 3 (2 more ex B190, 1 fresh all new CPL entry, some minister's daughter) in training and quite few more potential F/Os lined up, hardly touched by any flying experience.
So it looks like, chances for people not complying with affirmative action requirements to get a seat on the ERJ are restricted to full fare tickets only, at the moment that is.

So anybody got any new news on what is going on with the training/recruiting for the ERJ? I'd like to chat with somebody local in the area. I've read a lot of material on the area (thanks to posters like darkroomsource and lilflyboy262), but would like a little more info on Air Namibia. PM would be appreciated.
