Piper Cherokee six ditching near Dakar

Yesterday, an Aero Taxi Piper PA 32 (Cherokee Six) 6V-AHY was ditched off the coast of M'Bour approximately 35nm SE of Dakar Senegal. All four passengers survived and were rescued by Fishermen. Aero Taxi is a Charter and flight school based in Cap Skirring Airport in the south of Senegal operating 2 PA32 and one Tomahawk (Well one PA32 now). I hope that all involved are doing well. No word yet on the reason why the engine quit. Some years ago, a Piper Navajo PA 31-350 (Not the same Co.) was ditched in the same relative area killing four persons if I recall well. The Aero Taxi web site is : AEROTAXI SENEGAL : Taxi aérien et école de pilotage (aéroclub)

a Link to the story (in french) I love the Photo, US AIR 1549 in New York !!! ...You know you're in Africa when...

Seneweb News : Amerrissage forcé d?un avion à Mbour

below are a few pictures of the airplane involved.
