Nice to see an airline starting up somewhere other than Joburg, can't stand this place and commuting is such a pain.

Good luck to them. Looks like they doing it properly unlike that Airtime outfit.

I think if they run on schedule people will come.

Head office

Their head office is in Durban, adjacent to Gateway.
Plans

They intend to have three planes in the sky by June 2011, which will include a Durban to Cape Town flight.
Planes

The airline will fly Boeing 737-300s, with the first one being leased from Aergo, a Dublin-based a private leasing company that opened an office in Johannesburg in February 2011. The airline's fleet will be maintained by SAA Technical
How can you let the competition do your maintenance?

Virgin Atlantic let their main competitor (BA) host their distribution and inventory system (in Speedwing) and we all know what that led to. BBC ON THIS DAY | 11 | 1993: BA dirty tricks against Virgin cost £3m

It seems like an obvious issue doesn't it? It's never stopped Comair though, another SAAT customer - and SAA's biggest competitor on the domestic routes. IMHO a strategic mistake, but I suppose setting up a maintenance department could be mildly expensive. I think this is how the govt. pretends that it's serious about making a profit with the parastatals.

Interesting rumour about this airline. Seems it is part of the Kingfisher group, so now an Indian Airline has a very convenient hub in Durban, maybe they'll start using some of the 21 new A320's they just bought.
