Air Botswana ATR72

Can anybody confirm that BP's two ATR72s are operating? I heard rumours that these two aircraft (A2-ABR and A2-ABS) were grounded due to lack of a maintenance programme acceptable to the Botswana CAA?

Well I saw one of them today in Maun, so they obviously can't be grounded at least.

There's obviously no-one on here who remembers Chris Phatswe and his "blasting off" antics!
I hope their selection policies are better and HR a little more on the ball these days.

Oh but there are!
There are some as well who found it all quite amusing. A cathartic reminder that perhaps a sensible employment programme based less upon nationalistic principles and more upon international ability is generally more suitable for an operation as potentially hazardous to life as aviation. There might still be some chaps around who remember the Tanzanian captains imported to fly the F 27s in the late eighties. I do believe I am correct in saying that their cockpit management skills were an absolute eye opener to the chief pilot of the time who I understand was heard to mutter sometimes at reasonable length as to alternative uses for the isolation bar.

I most certainly do remember the Chris Phatswe incident (I wouldn't have remembered his name) but for those who don't :

And the funny thing is, security treats us as the criminals going through because we might harm the Air Bots planes haha.

Watch out! We might take them over with a bottle of water
