Fly540 BAe 146?
This is in the news today. It says they will get three aircraft in the next 8 weeks. Any idea where the aircraft will be sourced from?

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Lonrho PLC, the conglomerate with a structured portfolio of African investments, said it is adding three BAE 146 aircraft to its African fleet.
Two BAE 146-300 100-seaters and one BAE 146-200 70-seater will be delivered within the next eight weeks and will expand the Fly540 operational network across sub-Saharan Africa, the group said.
The aircraft are part of a planned rollout of 12 aircraft for the company over the coming year and will continue to develop the airline model from its operational base in Kenya to other hubs across sub-Saharan Africa, the company added.

Still, perhaps it's a change from clapped-out 737-200s which do pollute heavily compared to more modern fans.

Those wouldn't be the same 146s that Flybe in the UK is reportedly getting rid of as quickley as they can because of noxious gases poisoning the flight crews, would they now?

The 146 will give them useful jet capacity at a low lease cost, so the low cost of ownership will offset the cost of 4 engines. Speed is of little consequence on sectors of up to 2 hours, so it looks like a good move provided that they can get good engineering and sales support. The fact that the 146 and Avro RJ are out of production doesn't matter as there will be enough flying to keep BAe interested for a good few years yet. 4 engines are particulary useful in Africa as it allows any aircraft with an engine problem to be flown home for rectification. As long as they achieve good punctuality and have the interiors brought up to a high standard, the customers will be happy. East African civil aviation is booming , thanks to the successful development of Kenya Airways, the improvements in the pipeline for Nairobi's main airport and a number of vigorous smaller companies to snap at KQs heels and add to the range of destinations, frequencies and fares on offer. It is a pity that that West Africa can't get anywhere near it.

...no more dumping of old aircrafts in Africa!!! what can we do to prevent these aircrafts coming here and crashing all over our backyard???

Why do you associate these aircraft with Flybe when the preceding post states they are from United ? You know, United Airlines of the USA, flown by Air Wisconsin ? Why do you then state Flybe are getting rid of 146's as quickly as they can because of noxious gases ? If you actually knew anything you would know it was a long planned withdrawal. The 146 / RJ has an excellent safety record. The probability is that if any are going to crash in your backyard then it won't be the aircraft's fault.
To the moderator - does probationary ppruner carry any penalty for posting such a stupid post - like not getting past probationary status ?
