Smile Jvj Joins Airlink

Heard that Johan Van Jaarsveld (Ex SAA) has joined Airlink as Chief Operating Officer. This appointment will certainly be good for the airline. It's been lacking some real operational management expertise and JVJ will definitely add value. Worked with him at SAA and have first hand experience of his ability to get the job done and make things happen.

Not strickly true, The operation runs very well, just would have been nice to have somebody to moderate RF's crazy ideas when he gets them. JvJ is something of a ruthless bean counter, so see some fun with the union coming.

That would be a show up for the books. RF and JvJ dont really sing off the same hymm sheet. So could see probs there and dont really see how he would fit in with RF as CEO and JvJ as COO?

Dream Machine, it would pay to do a search on PPrune of the subject of your praise, and then you might want to rethink your post.

Good for Airlink?

I fly/am employed by the "tax payers" airline......who's ceo we never see of,hear of, (only the negative political aspects), and who never shows any interest in his airline (my personal opinion)............ but at least Airlink has a ceo that is a commercially rated IF pilot, which should indicate that he knows a "little" bit about aviaition (even though he has flaws, like we all do), and he has been there since day one!! Unlike the "fantastic, passionate, leadership that we have at the helm of the "tax payers" airline!!!

JVJ for Airlink!

Good luck with that! hehehe

interesting times ahead for link pilots. at SAA JVJ insisted on interviewing every single new intake pilot. what for, nobody will ever know, but I summise that it is a symptom of an egotistical maniac.

There's obviously a desperate shortage of good management talent in this industry. Scraping the bottom of the barrel is going to cause much unhappiness at Airlink. Speak to anyone at any airline he's ever been with.
His pilot selecting skills at SAA caused training section untold problems.

Well sorry to heard about your misfortune.....Oh yes, ex SAA, ex MK, hope he changed his way of doing things, otherwise you're in for a real rough time.

Mr JvJ was escorted off the SAA property by security staff......&......believe the MK pilots hated him like the plague.

As a friend of mine in SAA senior commercial management always said "where JvJ goes, lawyers will surely follow"

Is the merger back on I wonder? Could see no other reason for him to join airlink.

JVJ

Also heard a rumour he got the hoof in Mauritius for smuggling??

(Probably more like not declaring something on arrival, but who knows?)

Ah, the siggy smuggler rears his head up again- the guy has no shame.

Well at least the dodger will have a playmate, the man has a bit of a rep for getting in errr rather strange/dodgy business deals.

I also fully expect LINK to take a far greater interest in Mozambique.... to tie up with some of his other buisness interests.

From the horse's mouth. He started there monday.

BW has sadly retired and from what I understand JvJ will be in his spot. BW will be sorely missed. A gentlemen and a good business man with a clear understanding of the work. A pleasure to work for and with.

Sadly I think his replacement is NOT cut from the same cloth. I can see this ending in tears.

Mmm...JvJ...."good pilot relationships" seems to be a term not known to the man or dare I say a swear word.

Wanted to turn SAA upside down years ago but misjudged SAPA.

Will be interesting to see how Solidarity deals with him.

Good luck to Airlink. He walked out of the FlightStar debacle with lots of cash, screwed over the flight crew at SAX, SAA and MK. Not bad for somebody who started as a check-in clerk at !!!! SAA
