Unhappy C210 Accident Joburg

I would appear that the accident with the P210 on Thurs was due to the aircraft breaking up in mid air due to severe turbulence. A tragic loss of Val and her pax. In the light of Vals great experince in Light Aircraft and flying in this region I would request as much information be made available, WHEN APPROPRIATE, as to flight conditions, altitude, weather radar inputs, etc so we can try and find out where this tragedy sprang from.. .This must be a severe wake up call to all of us in Light Aviation as to what is waiting to jump on us out there.. .Can anyone post a sequence of events? The news report was very sparse. Was she diverting at the time?. .There is normally a considerable period of time before accident reports come out, so I would request that CAA could possibly give us an interim report, without prejudice, as soon as possible. <img src="frown.gif" border="0">

I am advised by the Head of CAA that, subject to information being available, they will release a prelimary report.. .Good to see again that this forum and others are being monitored.. .Was there anyone else in the air at the time who can shed light on some of the conditions?

No it was not. I use ORO myself and am please to report ORO and her pilot are still flying. I believe it was ZS-MXR, very well equipped panel with radar. I think it is in the Feb Airnews, bottom of page 80.
