ICAO to JAA conversion

HI there, need you help now becoz after searching all from scratch i found my self lying in confusion.com
I am doing my training from south africa and will be getting my frozen ATPL in this month of december.
First of all i wanna share the things which i know about JAA conversion for Frozen ATPL

1- have to attend ground classes i.e 650 hrs
2- class 1 medical
3- Mcc training
4- more or less atleast 15 hrs of flying

thats all i know

now people i need your suggestion for the best which i can do
1- should i complete my training in multi engine or single engine(let's say if i'l go UK for my conversion with multi engine IR its going to charge me more on the other side in single engine IR charges will be less)

2- Should i do my Comm. as a VFR Pilot (anyhow for the conversion i have to do my 15 hours of flying + instruments flying) so is it advisable to do IR during my converison?

i'm starting my advance training form next week so i need yr quick and positive reply
thnks ppl
