Read all you can and be very very careful what you say, who you say it to or in front of (in the hearing of). The smiling faces can often be two faced and turn your words (or even a not very close approximation of them) against you behind your back. It is an enjoyable place if you can avoid all controversy and avoid being sucked in to comment about any controversy or anyone. Good news links on:

also you can search anyone or any topic on the same site at:

There are some good operators there who know their stuff. Just be very careful and above all avoid politics (which touches on everything). They have very long toes and no matter where you put your foot down you will otherwise surely stand on them. Hope this helps.

Did a few contracts there and happen to pop in there every year or so.
Ghana is 1 of the few 'very nice' countries where you can actually move to for a couple of years.

Everyone speaks english to start of with. There is a lot of expats living there and lots to do specially in Accra.

Nice hotels are the Goldin Tulip and Labadi beach, or if you stay long, get a good deal at the Hibuscus.

There is a fantastic bar called the sports bar and an irish pub, ryan's pub.

Kumasi is a busy town as well with the best golf course north of the Limpopo, but the 1 in Accra is kak with earth greens!

The atc's are friendly and fairly good. Just the red tape at Accra can sometimes get a bit much, but if you keep your cool, it's not to bad.

When your off, there's lot's to see, like the canopy walk near Takoradi or the Cape coast Castle or go eat the best fish in the world at Mable's Table.

I enjoyed Ghana everytime I got there and if you keep a cool toll, you will too.
