It's alive!

Someone told me that there was some sort of proving flight (non-rev) in a liveried A320 by VN within the last week or so from DNMM (Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria). I wasn't paying very close attention so that I cannot say if this is so or just some local hallucination.

I know we are all waiting to see who is hired, expecting some sort of exodus of qualified local pilots. This should be interesting.

Chuks, you are correct. It was called a "proving" flight and went from Lagos to Port Harcourt and back on 18th April.

Good luck to them, at least all the National pilots made redundant from Nigeria Airways should have head start for a job again ?

18 April? Highly unlikely! The aircraft (LZ-BHD) left Sofia for Lagos via Malta on 23 April, that's yesterday. This is official info.
The 18 April date was a rumor spread by certain dailies. Since today is a Sunday, the proving flight is likely to be conducted tomorrow.

In related news, the sister aircraft LZ-BHB has already left the paint hangar in Brussels for Sofia. Expect it in Lagos in about 1 week.

Thanks for that. In fact I didn't see the aircraft myself, I was told about it, so as you say it was no doubt just a rumour. Bit like this site I suppose ?!!

Cheers,

NEO

There is something very beautiful on the ramp today It arrived last night and flew direct to LOS, not going via Malta!!!

A new era is starting. Embrace it and enjoy it.

How long does a proving flight last in this case? Is it a single sector or is it multiple legs?

The contractor handling the check-in counters at MMIA disclosed that works will not finish before May 15. Well i hope they expedite as much as possible to make Harfords' latest statement stand true (launch first week of May).

I trust VN will be installing plasma or LCD screen for check-in counter info

Surely Not, check your PM.

1st photo of the 2nd aircraft LZ-BHB, although taken in Brussels on 25 April, literally hours after completing the paint job.

http://coppermine.luchtzak.be/displa....php?pos=-4513

Guys, look at the tail carefully and compare with LZ-BHD, anybody notice a slight difference in alignment of the "Virgin" logo? Small lack of precision here

I hope the proving flight went OK today, anybody got news, how many hours were required by NCAA?

Thumbs up

I like it - " slight" Virgin flavour is quite tasty on the Nigerian logo

Saw the Virgin Nigeria aircraft landing today at DNMM(about 2:30pm ish), it certainly was a beautiful site, very very quiet engines, unlike the majority of the planes you see around here. I was hoping it would come towards us(at the local terminal) for a better view but it turned towards the international wing. Local airlines, brace up for some serious competition, cos these guys look very serious!!!!!

AP

P.S Did anyone else get a reply from Virgin Nigeria, acknowledging reciept of your pilot application?
