The man was teaching four members of the Zambia Universal Sky Diving Club when the incident happened on Saturday, police spokesperson Munganga Chanda said.
He died instantly, she said.
Officials at the South African High Commission confirmed the accident and identified the victim as Theonis Kruger. They declined to give his address in South Africa.
The club was not listed in the telephone directory and could not immediately be reached for comment.
It was the first time such an accident had been reported in the country, where most locals can't afford skydiving.

Sorry to hear about your friend SRT.
He was not perhaps from the "Krugersdorp area" (can not remember the correct airfield) skyding club ?
Cheers,
Condolences to his friends and family.
