Need new job.....now in Uganda
Have just quit a job with a lot of promise but no aircraft in Uganda/Congo border.
Have been here since September, doing truck repairs, house rebuilding etc etc while waiting for the Aztecs to be re built. Have finally given up hope that this will ever be done so resigned last week.
I have JAA CPL/IR multi engine, with single engine instructor rating and 1172 hrs total time.
Where is a good place to find work at the moment.....any hints
Cheers

hey farmer boy !
sounds like you quit too early buddy !
When I got my first Job In Africa, I was flying a 182 heavily overloaded to most airstrips I had never been there before, all of that for only $300 a month and that was not in the 60's just 8 years ago.
With your kind of Experience, I would say get ready to be Sha...d by every Tom, Dick And Mr Harry before you even get close to your dream job, thats Africa.
I dont mean to put you off, but you should get mentally prepared, I think you're better off Flight Instructing IN USA, dont waste time in Africa if cant handle it.
good luck

Aaah, but you were lucky. We used to DREAM of flying a heavily overloaded 182 for 300 USD.
Why, when I was a young pilot I was thrashed awake every day 5 hours before I went to sleep by our vicious CP armed with an old crankshaft, and then had to fly a Wright Flyer MK1 with a dodgy engine delivering meat cleavers to the vicious man eating Wanaeatya tribe of Central Africa. 300 usd - what a luxury - we used to work for a slice of mouldy bread and a half glass of sour goats milk once a month in the good months. But did we complain - not a bit of it. We appreciated what we had, and we were happy.
Aaaah, you were lucky.
(with apologies to Monty Python)

Hey Dude Helldog, I am not going to say anything, to the contrary, I would really advise him to take it for one good reason: working in your company is the best training a young pilot could get and for those who can eat it, the Best Pilot in Da World is a very good instructor. Intense flying, good hour building, planes are very safe, EMK is a sweet bitch and will teach you to fly a real plane, great routes, very interesting charter flights and clients. I will not comment on the rest, every one needs to make his/hers own opinion.

Buddy I know exactly how you feel, especially in Central Africa, in comparison to you, I think I was lucky, even luckier when my 206 Bitch failed to produce enough power to fly out of Wilson, Aah Thats gone story !
SkyFarmer
you should take Helldog's Advice, like Shenzi said that Greek is a Damned good Instructor, if you can Survive his HACKSAW sound talk.
Never Give up with Aviation if you wanna be there.
Good Luck

Not just giving up, would be quite prepared to carry on if there was any chance of the aircraft being flyable but there aint.
Dicksynormous is spot on with who the employer was, and in answer to his question, yes he was paying, but only just.....Am not prepeared to discuss that on public forum though!!
