I have been watching this topic , online and in reality, with a very heavy heart.
Allot of aviators, engineers and other aircraft related folks have cut their teeth in Rossairs stable, and, if you look at your lives in retrospect , you have allot to be greatful for.
Some guys lost wives, girlfriends, and bodily appendages, for the company, one youngster even lost his life, whilst carrying out his ops duties, and now the company has gone.
As Manny has said, the Avionics guys will carry on under a new banner, Good luck chaps, look forward to supporting you in your new adventure.
Spice, to you and the rest of the managment team, good luck with the new venture.
For those that have been left in the dust, hang in there, when one door of opportunity closes, a hundred windows will open.
Good luck

I go along with that Baloo. I was a pilot with Rossair at FAGM many moons ago. It was a great deal of fun and the company was a great stepping stone for many pilots - even if some had to exxxxagerate their hours to get to fly nice shiny new 310s for B under the ever helpful TR, a great guy whom I remember with much affection. Good luck Gentlemen.

Rossair to be liquidated

Rossair Holdings (Contracts and Workshops) will be officially liquidated this week. The liquidators should be appointed by the end of this week. The current contracts will continue to be operated for approximately two months while the contracting NGO's / companies release new tender documents for those contracts. There may be other complications, however, in that many of Rossair's aircraft engines are operating on extended TBO's which are company approved, and with the liquidation, there goes the approval, effectively grounding a large proportion of Rossair's fleet?? Any comments on this latter paragraph as I am just speculating.

Just had a sat phone call from someone at Rossair, in the field, somewhere in the northern half of the world. They have now been informed that Rossair has colapsed and are now awaiting further instructions.
Very, very, sad indeed to hear this when you are on the job, FAR from home!

Rossair - GOTO Plan B

As numerous persons predicted a while ago it now appears that some sort of plan B is being implimented iro Rossair.

While Rossair Charter is apparently continuing as before, the Qwila Air (?) rumor appears to be manifesting itself, a whole lot of Rossair contracts pilots ( C.P. included) seem to be slipping neatly into the Qwila air fold as well as Rossair aircraft and contracts.

So could one conclude that for all intents and purposes, Rossair Contracts = Qwila Air at the moment ?

The owner of Qwila who is actually the former chief pilot of Rossair from (circa 4 years ago) , and the current 2 i.c. of Rossair are known to be good mates and hopefully things will work out well under this new arrangement and indeed given that the owner of Qwila air will not have to divert millions of rand a month to support an unprofitable operation in Europe like the previous Rossair ceo did, things have every reason to go well.

I think there is a quiet irony in the fact that the former Rossair CP who left the company after clashing with the then CEO, now ends up bailing the company out of trouble if not actually taking over the whole operation.

I'm sure that the former Rossair Chairman , who so magnificintly ran the company into the ground, and now residing in Holland, will choke on his Amstel when he hears whats happend !!!

You are right maxrated,
the tune of R180,000 a month was being diverted to keep those cheeseheads in bussiness(fact).A 100,000 euros was spent on a lavish party in the hangar , the theme being Africa, and we want mention how the Porsche GT3 got there.
Some rumor apparently came out of the accounts department that 400, 000 dollars was being transferred every month to Citi bank in New York.
The clash that you are talking about was over the C208,s that DHL wanted and probably other things that we will never know .
The former ceo does know about his former collegues and their plans and now he,s winging how he was robbed by people he trusted and all that good sxxt and also that he,s going to loose his house in Lonehill.(sorry for that) but the house with a indoor pool in Holland cant be touched.
The banks are also partly to blame by re-financing the paid off aircraft and now they are millions out of pocket.
A loss of 3 million rand by Air Lesotho which was bought by Rossair also got the ball rolling.A 1900 c flying JNB INT-LESOTHO twice a day with 3 passengers either way and the list could go on and on.

Maxrated,

I dont think you know the whole story chap ! The left over crew from Rossair contracts who were working on ICRC contracts will be taken over by Qwila but and that is the big but ! They will only be offered a two month contract as the ICRC global tenders will only be awarded on the 1st of April.

So there might be a whole lot of guys and gals out of work again !

I served close to 4 years with Rossair and just wish to say that the pilot's and engineers I worked with, were the greatest. You guys and girls made the operation work with the bare essentials considering good old HQ was clueless half the time.

May you all find safe flying jobs!

Oh dear. Dodson are now looking for DC3T crew as they take back their aircraft from the defunct Rossair. After Rossair's record of negligence with their aircraft they don't want to keep the ex-Rossair crews.

Rossair

JetJoke, I agree. I did the better part of ten years with Rossair, and although there were tough and frustrating times, the guys and gals were always ready to do whatever to get the job done. Tough times for all affected and hope things work out.

Keep the blue side up.

PS What ia Dollar up to?

Solid Rust Twotter ; I understand that the Rossair CP going to Qwila is not MH but the most recent chap, R B. ( a true officer and gentleman of note).

T Tailed, you are correct in what you say , the plan B may not be a definate thing but its better than nothing at the moment, alot can and prob. will happen in the next 2 months, I'm curious to see how this thing developes. Being in this company is like being in ones very own soap opera exept no one but the director knows how the story ends.......

S..crew..ed

The better part of Rossair were their crews...sought after people. Not an easy environment under which they worked and operated. After all that they did, were doing and my understanding STILL doing, they get shafted with little or NO warning except getting told about an alphabet of subsequent follow up plans from B to by now K. In a week no doubt S------ (screwed)
Look out in the market Guys, you will be surprised what a difference it will make with Rossair on yur CV. My association with some very fine and capable individuals will be remembered.
Will do what I can to help any one with Rossair on their CV.......
Good Luck...

Thanks Stayinalive. It is so, so sad to see such a legendary Company who were for many years and up to very recently (against all odds) one of, if not THE best in this game. Yes the crew and staff are among the best people I know. It all happened so fast that no one is really to be blamed.
Good luck to each and every person who was employed by Rossair on the 31 January. I wish them only the very best for their futures. I am proud to have been a ROSSAIRIAN! May the name always be held high!!!
