My Hewa Bora story
I was in Kisangani the other day, have to create a rumour, and after seeing Hewa Bora for about the third time to start the right outboard engine it eventually taxied. On the take off run a few seconds into it slammed on the brakes.Carried on a few seconds later more rubber burnt until eventually the thing just gets off the end of the runway, after take off I saw the smoke out of the three engines and not the poorly engine that I saw trying to be started on the apron.
I heard the pilot is a alcholic.....just to make the story more interesting!
A few days later had to go onto this airline with a 727 to change crew last resort as I had to be back. Kisangani to Goma wow what smooth flight, no pax brief, luggage is weighed using a piece of roped tied to some cheapy scales and the baggage is hooked onto this. No automation here!
A nice bounce into Goma .......
Rock on Hewa Bora

If it wasn't for the double I would have given you a piece of my mind. Saw HBA at JNB many times. Their take-off's looks better than any A340 bus I have ever seen although the non-South African A340 bus operators seems to have it hacked better than their SA counterpart (Air France, Olympic etc). I st myself a couple of times seeing the SA A340 bus operator out of JNB. With HBA operating from "D" apron I had a good view of their ground ops as well and could see no probs.
At least they're still flying...which is a lot more than MANY African operators can say. BTW, read my posts on SAA. It was YOUR choice to FLY with HBA because you HAD to. As far as SAA is concerned...I've said it many times...if they are the only operator on the route..I'll walk!!! Pax service and...well, it all sux!!!!

Dynamite Dean!! FYI Since 1991 I have flown on Shabair, Express City, Zaire Express, Congo Airlines, and HBA. In case you dont know all these companies are strongly related. I personally allways found, service, safety and punctuality to be acceptable. I dont know of any other privately owned "African" airline that could hold a candle to HBA. If they find out who you are posting this kind of sh*t about them you may well find yourself stranded in Kisangani next time you are there. In "Africa" its tit for tat. Anyway I think you are lying about your experience.

I hear you buddy been there done that and made it out alive. I always loved listening to the barking engine's of the 72's when they landed in Kinshasa, nothing like a couple of compressor stalls to wake you up in the morning. Had the unfortunate experience of flying Congo airlines to Joburg( pre SAA to Kinshasa days), going into Lubumbashi we finally landed on the third attempt. I can well believe your experience.
Wtfu tell me how many valiums have you consumed since 1991.
