I was in Kisangani the other day, have to create a rumour, and after seeing Hewa Bora for about the third time to start the right outboard engine it eventually taxied. On the take off run a few seconds into it slammed on the brakes.Carried on a few seconds later more rubber burnt until eventually the thing just gets off the end of the runway, after take off I saw the smoke out of the three engines and not the poorly engine that I saw trying to be started on the apron.
I heard the pilot is a alcholic.....just to make the story more interesting!
A few days later had to go onto this airline with a 727 to change crew last resort as I had to be back. Kisangani to Goma wow what smooth flight, no pax brief, luggage is weighed using a piece of roped tied to some cheapy scales and the baggage is hooked onto this. No automation here!
A nice bounce into Goma .......
