yea,
India does has real pilot shortage now.
I have an australian license and if i have to convert my license to indian i will have to do indian class 1 medical, which i have applied and i will have to wait atleast 1 year for that.
So was thinking to build up some hours.
Any potential employers you can suggest... wud be thankful..
cheers

Isn't that a helicopter?
Recomend the usual first stop, Bostwana, if you can bear to live in Maun, sounds like paradise
Your definetly gonna have to get over to the places and look around with those hours, middle of season now but you might get lucky and find something.
Like Ironside said, hit the tarmac and be prepared to spend a few months looking around, look through the Africa forum plenty of leads for you there.
Good luck

Hey folks!
Last i heard in the aviation industry india is the place to be due to the increasingly demand on drivers the shortage is too big,but waiting for 1 year to get a Class 1 medical doesn't make sense to me as i have some indians mate i trained with in south africa, they're back home and they're flying i believe they give priority to their locals pilots on first hand, company such as Kingfisher i heard employ AB-INITIOS for expats.Cheers

Looking for that first break....
Hi there guys,
I'm new here, but have been reading for a good while now. Well as the Title says, I'm looking for that first break into the aviation industry! Got my com 3 years ago, couldn't find work, moved to the UK for a year to save money so i could come back and renew my licence, which I have now done. Thought about the instruction route, but I missed entry for the exams for the 22 Oct by 3days and now can only write in Feb, which is far to long to wait.
Ive got 236hrs and also rated on the van and B200. I'm planing on doing another trip up to jhb to knock on the doors as i live in PE. (would be my 5th trip!)
So if you guys have any leads or could help me out in any sort of way it would be much appreciated, wash planes, ops, etc. its a foot in the doors!
Thanks in advance!

GA jobs...
Hi Everyone,
Talking to a friend who flew out of Maun, Botswana for 3 years, I'm getting quite keen on a stint over there myself. It sounds like a fantastic experience!
I'm a Kiwi with about 450hrs, including 100hrs on commercial ops in a cherokee six. I also have a multi-engine instrument rating. Of course I'll get a C206 rating on my licence before moving there! (and maybe an airvan?)
What places other than Maun should I consider? Would I be competitive for a job when I arrive with my level of experience? How many unemployed pilots are currently on the ground at Maun, waiting for their big break, and how is pilot turnover at the moment?
I hear that Jan/Feb is the best time to arrive. Does this really matter, or would arriving in April/May be good too?
I'm very open to all opinions and advice on the subject!
Thanks,
Dupre.
