I have no idea about their SOPs but ours say "no turns below 400ft". That would be 120m and I guess he was not lower than that when he turned. But maybe there was a large flock of Canada geese in front of him which made him start the turn a little earlier for the sake of wildlife preservation. Who knows.

Which roughly translates to: According to DFS (German ATC) the pilot had queried the direction in the case of a go-around before initiating the approach. The controllers granted permission for a left turn. The height at which the pilot starts the turn is his own responsibility."
