Madrid - cannot recall for sure of we've had MAD before, maybe Air Scotland flew it?

Perhaps a topic for discussion. Many on here may recall that ABZ for a short time had Transat holiday flights in the 90s:
Orlando/Puerta Plata (Thomson, Britannia B762, alternating between the two destinations every fortnight or so);
Toronto (Air Transat B752)
Outbound had to have a pick-up/fuel stop as the flights couldn't make it direct;
Inbound was usually direct having used up sufficient fuel on the crossing.
Don't recall how successful they were though.
With the advent of the next gen NEO/MAX aircraft that we are seeing on transat flights (well the 7M8 anyway with the Airbus NEOs probably hot on their heels) what chance does ABZ have to be served - either IT or schedules - using such aircraft in the future?
Not saying it will happen, but just curious about any thoughts.

Going by MTOW and runway length at ABZ the MAX/NEO could make at least the New York region from our dear field. Mentioned to the AIAL that they should speak to Norwegian
