incorporate GPS into the lesson, and let the instructor use it to see how accurate the student is with traditional navigation techniques. It will help the student see improvments first hand, but always encourage the use of a GPS as a backup too only(VFR). Its amazing to see that the majoritoty of PPLs that have a VCA always try to get out of it saying that they had a GPS and could accuratly navigate to within meters of CTA, and they do it all the time.
