In my mind you're trying to come off as somebody who's more qualified then they really are.
There are laws against impersonating police, fire department, ambulance personell but unfortunately there are no laws for impersonating professional career pilots.
When enrolled in a career flight training course wear a uniform as long as it's not anything that makes you look like you've dressed up as airline captain.
