The future is far from bleak. Waiting for a job is not the answer, putting yourself in a position to take a job when it comes up is the answer. If you do well in training and create opportunities for yourself then something will happen. Sit at home hoping for that magic call and you might be waiting a while.

Whether you choose to pay for the services of a company like L3 (formerly CTC) or get a job in ops for a regional airline/lcc/charter company and make in-roads that way, or simply keep applying online for Ryanair/Flybe/Smartlynx jobs that come up, determination and attitude will get you into that seat you desire.

A couple of chaps i know who didn't make the grade at CTC spent 18 months on their own creating opportunities for themselves and eventually it paid off. They're both sitting in the RHS of a 737 and it was no thanks to anyone but their own determination to get a job.

Good luck to you, there's something out there.
