Thats exactly what I thought too. however, after a bit of google research...

I can hire a small twin for $300 an hour. Having not flow one for a few years i presume i would need 3 or 4 hours practice to get back into the swing of things ($1200). The test goes for about 2 hours ($600). Not 100% sure about the test fee but lets say its about $800 bucks. Total $2600.

The cheapest type rating (A320/737) I am able to find at the moment is just under $9000.

That is a bit of a difference for me.

Is my calculation off?? are there cheaper ATP + Type ratings available?
