I always head for the lounge just before the staircase to gates 1-9 to wait. It was the old mezzanine floor that was put in over the old departure lounge in the old terminal. It is a bit of a trek if the flight is from pier A but it is a nice calm area with next to no one there when I have used it. There is a small cafe there but the seating is part of the airport.
