6:30 on a Sunday morning. The dual carriageway might still be a single lane up to the passenger footbridge but this was not meant to happen. Google map does not show the new route that misses out the CTA roundabout but the whole point of the £14 million contract was to stop congestion.
I don't even need to be there to know the issue is with the single lane drop off zone, that pedestrian crossing and cars stopping in the middle of the zone rather than by a kerbside to let out passengers as I was watching it happen again yesterday during a less busy period. Once the duel carriageway is fully open the queue will seem smaller but the queue time will remain the same as most cars try to get back into a single lane to enter the drop off zone.
The airport have already admitted that their traffic model forecast did not see any problems but at the moment their investment is achieving nothing.
