It was me. It isn't just supermarket quality the design is from a catalogue where there are various options for supermarkets. Most people will have already seen this design at many supermarkets as there is an option to put enclosed sides and a back on it for storing supermarket trolleys.

This is just the latest example of cost cutting to the bone and is nothing like the artist impressions of a designer walkway that the airport first published.

The artist impressions also showed quality paving but this was replaced by cheap as chips tarmac. Even the exterior walls of the second floor offices of priority parking in the multi-storey car park have been left as unpainted breeze blocks and lets not mention again the finish of the passenger footbridge. It all just adds to the impression of a utility airport that has set its sights at the very bottom of the market.

Luton has done very well at expanding this segment of the market but it seems clear that it is not chasing full fare business where passengers might expect a more upmarket experience.
