This is pretty common and there are plenty of youtube videos of Porters etc rolling over into a dive (I think in beta range) as the jumpers exit and following the freefallers down. Maybe being a piston they didn't want to descend at idle (in a spiral) so they spin it instead.
Obviously not dangerous or they'd have hit someone!
