Class 1 and Deviation

Hi y'all,

Just phoned the jolly old CAA and they pleasantly informed me that if you're just out on eyesight and hearing (I'm out by .25 on the stigmatism and difference values for eyesight) they have recently adopted a slightly different policy.

Basically, you write to them with your prescription etc and details of what you want to do (ATPL etc) and they look at the case in detail. If you're just out, they will possibly issue a medical with a 'deviation' for the particular problem.

Upon passing your flight test / exams, they will then remove the deviation.

She (the woman at the CAA) seemed to think I would have no problem getting a Class 1 now.

Anyone else heard of this?
