One of the big issues for me is something that gilvesdavis has touched on. The builders are very good at closing an area and stripping it clean so making the space unusable months before it is touched again. The island areas were closed down months ago and just left boarded up. It seems that nothing has changed since my last flight around September when the whole of the back of departures including the islands were then boarded up.
The same is true landslide opposite the temporary entrance. The whole area was picked clean and boarded up forcing the easyJet customer help desk to move into a temporary location and two shops to shut down. Since being stripped down the large area has just been left so the question has to be asked why close an area months before it needs to be closed?
As for security the entrance will be moved and the whole area expanded when the existing retail outlets are moved into the new build so creating 18 security lanes but that won't happen until 2018.
One of the odd things about the security hall is the partial vaulted ceiling by the former entrance. It just looks so odd that the ceiling over the security lanes suddenly doubles in height. When finished the ceiling will drop down again when the lanes reach the former retail area just leaving a vaulted ceiling in the middle section.
