That is often the case for direct services. Strangely enough it's often cheaper to connect hence why you will find QR cheaper in many cases.
In Scotland at the moment, there is a bit of a price war going on between the ME3 with all fares being relatively low. EK used to be more expensive but their fares have dropped recently as they now have new competition from QR and EY in what is a tough marketplace.
More capacity in the form of the A380 will only exacerbate this however it will be good to see the whale operating into Scotland.
